Proposed legislation would create a Schedule 6 with its own regulatory agency, the Office of Medical Cannabis and Cannabinoid Control.

Currently, multiple federal agencies are responsible for the oversight of cannabis, each with their own rules about enforcement. Adding a Schedule 6 and creating its own oversight agency resolves many of the issues around medical cannabis in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Because of FDA rules on approved drugs as ingredients in consumer goods, not allowing for the complex combinations and interactions of cannabinoids, it is absolutely critical that FDA oversight is replaced with an agency that is knowledgeable about cannabis and cannabinoids.
